Bourbon Lemon Syrup

Ever since I started enjoying adult beverages I’ve been a huge fan of bourbon, it’s delicious and a versatile liquor that you can use for so many things.

Recipe

  • 1/2 cup bourbon of your choice, I used Four Roses
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract (I’m not fond of the flavor of imitation vanilla)
  • Zest of 1/2 lemon, don’t worry you won’t waste the other half since you will be using that to garnish the awesome dessert you’re going to have later
  1. Combine everything into a small saucepan and heat on medium low to low heat until the sugar has completely dissolved.  For this to work right you can’t walk away from the stirring or you will get some crazy crystallization on the sides of your pan.
